Caspian Herd ABOUT US

Equine assisted learning practioner, Camille watching her horses

Meet Camille

I spent the first part of my working life as a pharmacist, in a world where everything needs to be measured, explained and backed by evidence. Precise and structured doses, outcomes, cause and effect. For a long time that suited me. It was what I knew.

Over time, and after working with horses more, I became curious about the things that aren’t always so easy to measure — instinct, connection, emotion and the way we respond to what is happening around us. Equine Facilitated Learning kept coming onto my radar, and eventually I decided to explore it for myself.

What I found surprised me. Working with horses gave me a very different way of understanding cause and effect. A perspective that was less about analysing and more about noticing, experiencing and responding in the moment.

I haven’t left my scientific background behind. It is still part of how I think, observe and work. Equine Facilitated Learning simply added another layer — one that allows space for both evidence and experience, thinking and feeling.

And that is where Caspian Herd grew from.

Why horses?

People often ask “why horses?”

Horses are incredibly responsive to what is happening around them. They can notice the most subtle changes in our body language, movement, tension, attention and the way we approach them. Changes that we might not even be aware of ourselves.

This creates a very different kind of learning experience. Rather than needing to explain everything or revisit the past in detail, we can work with what is happening right there in the paddock.

There is no judgement and no expectation to have the right words. Just an opportunity to slow down, become more aware of yourself and explore what might be happening for you in the moment.

This simple presence and awareness is what makes horses such powerful partners in this work.

Equine Facilitated Learning OUR MISSION

Caspian Herd is for the woman who is ready to stop letting the past define her. The work happens on the ground, alongside the horses, and over time it tends to show up in these three ways:

SLOW DOWN

An opportunity to slow down and really listen to yourself. It’s a break from the noise in your head and a chance to notice how you’re actually feeling beneath the surface.

RECONNECT

Get clearer about what it is that you really want. Horses don’t respond to the version of yourself you’re presenting to the world. They respond to what is actually present within you, and that helps you see yourself more clearly.

EMPOWER

What you learn in the paddock doesn’t stay there. Asking for what you want, holding a boundary, trusting your own judgement: these are lessons you carry into everyday life.

Louise Firouz – A Powerful Legacy:

One person who played a pivotal role in preserving the Caspian Pony breed was Louise Firouz. She was a truly remarkable woman who dedicated her life to protecting and promoting these majestic creatures. Louise Firouz’s passion and perseverance remind us of the profound impact one individual can have on the world. At Caspian Herd, we honour her legacy by continuing to advocate for the value that horses bring to human well-being.
