Confidence Through Connection

Ages 14–18

A six-week, one-on-one program for young people

Confidence grows when you have the chance to try, notice, make choices and work things out for yourself. Alongside the herd, young people can explore how they respond to challenges, connect with others and recognise their own strengths.

Each 90-minute session combines conversation, reflection and ground-based activities with horses. We start by spending time watching the herd, and bring in simple, supported hands-on activities when both the young person and the horse are comfortable. No riding or horse experience is needed.

How the six weeks run

Week 3

Trying something new

Small, supported steps outside their comfort zone, and noticing what helps them feel more capable.

Week 4
Week 4

Finding their voice

Clear communication, personal space, and what it feels like to make a choice or set a boundary.

Week 5
Week 5

Making their own choices

More say in activities with the herd, trying different approaches and trusting their own judgement.

Week 6
Week 6

Seeing how far they've come

Looking back at what they’ve discovered and choosing a simple way to take it beyond the gate.

Is this right for your young person?

It might suit them if they:

  • Feel like nobody really listens to them
  • Aren’t sure who they are or what they want yet
  • Get stuck in their head, or overthink everything
  • Don’t connect with sitting in an office and talking
  • Love animals, or are curious about horses

What we work towards:

  • More confidence in themselves
  • Being able to speak up and say what they need
  • A clearer sense of what matters to them

Practical details

Six one-on-one sessions · 90 minutes each · Ground-based only · Boyland, Gold Coast Hinterland
$850 upfront, or two payments of $450

The pace and level of contact are guided by the young person’s comfort and the horses’ wellbeing. Activities can be adapted, and taking part never depends on touching or handling a horse.

For parents: if your young person is under 18, I’ll talk with you first and need your consent before we start. Most families book the free chat together.

Confidence Through Connection is an Equine Facilitated Learning program. It isn’t a replacement for counselling or therapy where that’s needed, but it can work really well alongside it.
